What is the result of not treating a thyroid condition when symptoms are severe?
Is this something a doctor could agressively treat? What types of treaments may be suggested by a specialist ? What is the result of not treating it or waiting ?
You didn’t say in which direction. I’m assuming you’re not talking myxedematous coma. Hyperthyroidism may lead to myopathy, either a wasting of peripheral muscles or cardiomyopathy, that may not reverse well if treatment is delayed. And the difference between severe hyperthyroidism and thyroid storm, which is a real life-and-death emergency, is only one of degree. Fever, high-output heart failure with pulmonary edema and all the other symptoms are not the way to die. Treatment is a bit complex to go into here, but may be medical, surgical or radiologic. If you’re young and planning a family, Iodine 131 is out, but there are options.

you will suffer the complications in the future if you will not ask for medical help so if I were you I will go to the doctor right now. There modern treatment that you can choose from and your family doctor can recommend specialist for this type of illness.. Don’t waste your time seek help.
