I had thryoid cancer last aug. I am trying to get my meds right but i can’t seem to feel normal anymore.?

Can you tell me your story? Do you always feel hot and tired?

I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2007. I had a total thyroidectomy in July and RAI in Novemeber. I’ve been struggling to get my pills right ever since.
First dose started at .15 of Eltroxin. This put my T4/T3 levels at an alright level but my Thyroglobulin level was at 13. This put me in a form of hypothyroid and at risk of the cancer regrowing. To keep you at a safe level your TG should be below .3 or undetectable. They raised my dosage to .175 of synthroid. I honestly can’t say if its’ working or not. I dont feel any different.
I’ve been told that it can take several months even years to get the levels to the right place. BUT I’d rather be in remission then have to feel the way I did all of last year.

Intolerance to heat and fatigue is a sign of hyperthryoidism. Talk to you doctor…mine asks me all the time if I feel this.

I hope things go well for you….

REMISSION ROCKS!

First of all, sorry to hear about your battle with cancer. Hope everything got worked out.

A few months ago, I had trouble with my thyroid meds and the right balance (I’ve had hypothyroidism since I was 16). I went to my endocrinologist, and she recommended a mixture of two different medicines. I regularly take Levoxyl, but my doctor lowered that dosage, and added in Cytomel, which is a T3 supplement that is made from animal thyroid. (I take the Levoxyl and a Cytomel in the morning, and then another dose of Cytomel at night). Within a week, I started feeling more energized, and my metabolism got back on track. It may not work for you, but it helped to improve my life.

    Good luck!
