I tend to shed alot of hair, especially at night. When i'm vacuuming I always find it behind my bed as well as on and underneath my pillow. There's nothing wrong with my thyroid either. On the flip side my hair does grow quite fast. I tend to get about 4-6 inches of hair cut off 3-4 times per year and my hair is generally just past shoulder length sometimes longer. So maybe it also depends how fast your hair grows back.
References :
if you're noticing your hair is shedding around the same time every year it probably has to do with the weather/environment. each hair goes through a growing period which is usually a few years and then a resting period. afterwards they fall out, which is why we see shedding in the first place. but you should try and pay attention to the hairs that are coming out; if they have a white bulb at the end it's probably normal shedding, but if not it's breakage which is bad
