are there specific types of thryoid test’s that are done, besides just a regular blood test?
My family doctor just wrote an order up for a "general" thyroid blood test. but I went to a specialist and his orders were for a blood test, testing T3 and T4, for malaise and fatigue, and a few other things. so is one more specific than the other?
I’ve never heard of a "general" thyroid blood test. Usually, doctors will order your TSH, free T4 and free T3. The more specific thyroid blood tests have a greater ability to show if you have an underlying thyroid problem.
