what is the best treatment for hypothyroidism?

Go to the best damn Endocrinologist you can find quick and DON’T mess around!!

This is something that will mess you up bad and you need to get on synthetic hormone (Synthroid) or whatever the doctor determines is best for you.

I can’t over emphasize this enough! Get to the doctor and get help for this condition.

i take levoxyl for my hypothyroidism. there is also a mineral supplement called selenium that may help if your levels aren’t too bad. coconut oil is supposed to help regulate metabolism in people wo are hypothyroid.

The best treatment is whatever gets you as close to being symptom free as possible. What works for some may not work for others. The standard treatment is T4. This is with the idea that the T4 will convert to T3 in the body. For most it does, but for others it does not convert as well as it should. Bad converters should be on a medication containing both T4 and T3.

I found the best thing one can do is to learn about the condition,. Learn what the lab values mean and know where you should be. It’s the only way to get symptom free. If you aren’t symptom free than you are either on too low a dosage of medication or on the wrong medication.

For most on T4, the first thing in the morning TSH should be around 1.0. Free T3 should be done to see if the person is converting well enough.

For those on T4/T3, the free t4 should be at least midrange and the free t3 should be high in range.

The ONLY treatment is prescription replacement thyroid hormones.
