What is the signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism?

And if this were to get treated, would peoples lives be normal again?

Symptoms can include; weight gain, difficulty losing weight, constipation, fatigue, depression, fertility issues, decreased sex drive, low body temp, low blood pressure, dry skin, dry thinning hair, sensitivity to light, brain fog, increased cholesterol levels, ridged finger nails, cold feet &/or hands, feeling of fullness in the throat, voice may deepen, muscle and joint aches, and headaches.

Yes, life can be normal again. It really takes the patient to make it normal again. I found you need to learn more about the condition, test results, and thyroid medications. Don’t ever give up until you feel well again. It too me a couple of years to find the correct medication and the correct dosage and now I feel great.

The first answer pretty much covered it all. It definitely does help to get treated. Normal is a relative term, but it does get you back on track. The person being treated will need to be on medication the rest of their lives and will need to have a check-up at least once a year.

I have hypothyroidism. All I have to do is take a pill daily. The signs and symptoms are weight gain, fatigue, mood swings, aches in joints. There is a slew of others. You can go to Merck.com and get a more thorough list.

As for living a normal life, yes I have a "normal" life.
