My thyroid level is 0.4, I have almost all the symptoms of hypothyroidism, doctor says no, can he be wrong?
I have read that your thyroid level can be in the "normal" range and still be to low for your body. Does anyone know anything about this? I have talked to my doctor, but am not getting anywhere. The lowest level in his reference range is 0.3, mine is 0.4. Could a thyroid supplement help?
Like you, I have all the symptoms and thyroid runs in my family. Unfortunately, without a test to back up hypothyroidism, you can’t be treated for it. My tests are always borderline or low normal.
I have not tried any supplements as I have been told that it is just throwing your money away…and, being truthful, that is really how it is with these homeopathic remedies. I have never used any that worked for other issues. Maybe you will have better luck than me…all you lose by trying them is your money.

Get another opion, it will prolly lead to a better diagnose.

It would depend on the other symptoms included in your "self-diagnosis." If you really feel strongly about it, get a second opinion with another doctor.

No. there are other factors to be considered. You must trust your doctor rather than your part knowledge.

Just because they are doctors doesn’t mean they don’t make mistakes, or that they know everything. You know your body, if you think there is something wrong, go to another doctor.
It could be that the test is faulty, or that, for what ever reason, the hormones "surged" that day and read as high when you really are low.
Also, when it gets as close to abnormal as yours is, your doctor should consider it a potential problem.
Anyway, it is worth having another test run by a different doctor, just to be safe. Check, too, on other things. It may be something entirely different and everyone is concentrating on the Thyroid and missing it.
