I’ve been told that my boy who aged 2 weeks has congenital hypothyroidism (his thyroid gland is not functioning). He is now on hormonal replacement therapy. I need to know the experiences from other families, how they cope with daily treatment? how their children grow up? etc.
My name is Tina, my son has CH and he is 2.5 yrs old. I know at this point you are scared and wondering what is in your son’s future. Don’t worry, everything will be just fine.
Unless I told you, no one would know Lex has CH. And he has been taking his pill whole since he was one. So even that part gets better. And he is super smart. People usually think he is 4 yrs old because he talks so well. Please join our CH group on yahoo groups. There are about 125 parents who have been in your shoes. The group is great. I look forward to learning more about you. lex and my story is on the site in the files section.

DoctoRRotcoD.com. 40 years ago, a microscope was invented in Canada through which you can see the smallest living organism on earth. They are called Mycoplasma, endobionts, protits and somatids. Whatever you call them, if the water in your tissues becomes too acidic, they have been shown to rapidly multiply and become disease-causing by changing form and invading every type of cell (see my video on Invasion of the Body Snatchers and How Medicine Lost its Way). Whether these tiny “dancing” lifeforms live in balance in your body or proliferate and cause disease depends on the pH of your tissues. Various medical journals include reports and case studies that implicate these micro-organisms in most every inflammatory and auto-immune illness. This includes (but is not limited to): chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, arthritis, ME, MS, heart disease, scerloderma, lupus, mixed connective tissue disorders, Sjogren’s syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome, IBS, Crohn’s disease, inflammatory bowel disease, eczema, psoriasis, acne, iritis, sarcoidosis, myositis, polymyositis, multiple sclerosis, ADD, ADHD, Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s Chorea, Parkinson’s, short term memory loss, cancer, polycystic ovarian syndrome, Addison’s disease, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, Grave’s disease, hyperparathyroidism, kidney disease, acute renal failure, cholecystitis, gall stones, pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer, brain cancer, leukemia and lymphoma.

Hi "meeeohmyyyy",
Reduce soy consumption. Soy can depress thyroid function and has been shown to cause goiters (an enlargement of the thyroid gland) in healthy individuals.
Alkalinize the body! This may help to prevent thyroid dysfunction in the first place.
Get rid of the saturated fats from your diet. Saturated fats have been found to inhibit thyroid function.
Work to balance your estrogen levels. Estrogen slows down the thyroid gland.
Eat organically raised meats to avoid meats that are loaded with added hormones that have been introduced to increase the weight of livestock prior to sale.
Begin a hormonal balancing program using progesterone cream to help bring your body back into balance.
Vitamin B3, (niacin), which is often taken to reduce cholesterol levels, has been shown to also lower thyroid hormone levels.
Gentian is known to normalize the function of the thyroid gland.
Incorporate kelp and other sea vegetables that are high in iodine. Iodine is needed by the body to produce thyroid hormone.
Radishes have historically been used to treat thyroid problems and have been known to keep the levels of thyroid hormones balanced.
If depression due to hypothyroidism is a problem, try taking St. John’s Wort to help elevate your mood.
Chronic constipation can be addressed by adding additional dietary fiber such as psyllium to your diet. Herbal laxatives, such as cascara sagrada or Nature’s Sunshine’s LBS II can also be used as required.
Try supplementing with zinc and selenium. Studies indicate that severe zinc or selenium deficiencies can cause decreased thyroid hormone levels.
Coconut oil stimulates the thyroid gland and is a good choice for those suffering from an under active thyroid.
One of the most effective supplements for hypothyroidism is desiccated thyroid gland that comes from pigs. It was used long before synthetic forms of thyroid medications became available and is processed by the body more naturally.

Also, say I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and treatment (pills) started early.. would I ever gain weight if I am taking the pills?
1. There is no connection.
2. Thyroid hormone (synthetic derivative) speeds up metabolism. It won’t cause weight gain.
Good luck!

Hi, this is Larry Hobbs @ FatNews.com.
http://fatnews.com/
larryhobbs@fatnews.com
This is from Mark Starr, MD’s book Hypothyroidism Type 2: The Epidemic.
Dr. Starr also notes that that desiccated thyroid (Armour) is much more effective than synthetic thyroid hormones.
Here is what he wrote on page 164.
A recent book by Sanford Siegal, DO, MD, entitled Is Your Thyroid Making You Fat lends additional credence to the thyroid epidemic.
Dr. Siegal specialized in weight loss.
He… asked if I would be… on his referral list… because I was one of only several hundred doctors who prescribed the medication.
In over 40 years of practice, Dr. Siegal found in treating thousands of patients that desiccated thyroid (Armour) was much more effective than synthetic thyroid hormones.
Dr. Zondek also reported the superior efficacy of desiccated thyroid over synthetic thyroid hormone in the treatment of the obese form of hypothyroidism in his 1926 textbook, Diseases of the Endocrine Glands.
He had not changed his opinion by the time the forth edition was published in 1944.

My research shows that many chronic illnesses including heart disease, obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, mental illnesses, Alzheimer’s disease, and the explosion of childhood illnesses are largely attributable to Type 2 hypothyroidism.
Type 1 Hypothyroidism is defined as failure of the thyroid gland to produce sufficient amounts of necessary to maintain normal blood levels of those hormones and normal blood levels of the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH).
Type 2 Hypothyroidism is defined as [a] resistance to thyroid hormones at the cellular level.
[In Type 2 hypothyroidism,] Normal amounts of thyroid hormones and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) are detected by the blood tests therefore, blood tests do not detect Type 2 hypothyroidism.

I have Hashimoto’s disease and was told today by my endocrinologist that my body will ultimately "kill" my thyroid. Until it does, I have no treatment options! I have so many symptoms associated with hypothyroidism and am desperate for some type of relief! I have gained 30 + lbs, am constantly tired and don’t menstruate regularly (I am a newlywed and would like to have children within the next couple of years), etc. I was told the "death" of my thyroid could take years and the thought of continuing in my current state for what would feel like an eternity is devastating, please help!

I am having a hard time conceiving and after some internet research, I think I may have hypothyroidism. Does anyone else have this issue? If so, could you please tell me what your symptoms were, what tests you had to confirm, and the treatment you are doing.
Also, please let me know if you have had success!
Hypothyroidism commonly makes conceiving difficult.
I am newly diagnosed hypo. Symptoms are many, but include prominent fatigue. Search Wikipedia "Hypothyroid" and you’ll get a big list, or go to www.synthroid.com (brand name of thyroid hormone replacement pill) and you’ll see lots of info.
Your doc can test your blood TSH and T4. It’s possible to be hypo enough to have low fertility even though you don’t have other hypo symptoms. Taking one pill a day will eventually correct the problem and your fertility would be restored. Good luck.
