Hyperthyroidism could I have it? I have read the symptoms but am still unclear.?

Since I was about 13 I have ALWAYS been tired. No matter how much or how little I slept, how much or how little activity I did in a day. I am now 25 and I am tired and yawning from the time I wake up till the time I go to bed. It is affecting my work, relationships and social life.

I get up, go to work, yawn all day so tired but I do my job. When I get home on days I work it is 100 times worse naturally. This is where it affects my relationship, I don’t have the energy to do anything, yard work, even DISHES. At the end of a full work week I am so tired I don’t even have energy to sit around with friends. If I do I yawn the entire time and they look at me as if to say "Oh we’re that boring?"

I also have a very hard time losing weight, I could eat rite and exercise 3 days a week and after 4 months not lose a single pound. Thats 3 days a week AND I have a very physical job. I’m sick of doctors in my town telling me nothing is wrong with me, asking me if I am depressed, or telling me I must not be sleeping well at night.

I am not depressed, I have been depressed I know how it feels and this is not depression. I sleep well at night, I hardly ever wake up. Anyway I’ve rambled enough any thoughts?

Hey there! Sounds rough! Two things.. first i think th only way to know for sure is blood tests to see if yur thyroid is working right… and the second thing… Do you know if you snore at night? If you do you may have sleep apnea, wich can cause you to wake up at night because our breathing is interupted, but you wouldnt ever know it. Again testing would nee to be done for that too. Just a few ideas, my hasband has both! and for a long time until he was tested and put on the right medication and using a CPAP machine he was ALWAYS tired, it drove me insane! LOL Good luck and I hope you feel better soon

Does Iodum work well to help cure the autoimmune condition, grave’s disease – hyperthyroidism?

My brother is taking a low dose of an antithyroid medication, which has helped minimize the hyper-symptoms, but his TSH levels are almost non-existant. Anyone use Iodum successfully? Any side affects? This remedy was prescribed by an homepathic professional.

There are alot of medicines in homeopathy for hyperthyroidism

Iodum is one of them

Others are Spongia tosta, Fucus,

symptoms of hyperthyroidism?

What did you feel like before you were diagnosed?
I didn’t even think about it until the doctor ordered a blood panel.
my symptoms (now that I think about it!)
occasional fatigue
muscle weakness when walking uphill
shortness of breath when exercising
high resting heart rate
loss of weight
shaky hands

My Mom claims this is due to too much caffeine but I have less than 8oz of coffee a day!
btw, i’m 22…

anxiety, stopped exercising bc of muscle loss, rapid heart rate, bad temper, hair loss, eating massive amounts of food with no weight gain,( not absorbing nutrients), thin skin, brittle nails, eyes felt sort of dry, i would wear sunglasses everywhere, hand tremors, gastro problems and memory loss.

i was diagnosed with graves’ disease.

suite101.com is where i go to ask questions.

good luck!

Mixed symptoms (Thyroid)?

Ok.

When I was first diagnoised with thyroid problems, I was diagnoised with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis (hypothryoidism).

I have symptoms of it: dry skin, brittle nails, I’m constantly tired, I have memory problems, a large goiter, and I’ve always had weight problems.

However- I also have symptoms of hyperthyroidism.
Symptoms I have: I’m nervous, my hands shake, I sweat a lot, I’ve got a 50% chance of running to the bathroom after eating, my hair isn’t exactly what I would call fine, but it is soft, and it falls out.

So is it normal to have symptoms of both? Thank you.

A very important thing to bear in mind is that not every quirk of your body is necessarily connected to single thing. Different symptoms hit different people, and in addition to that hypothyroidism used to be called "the great imitator" because it has such a huge and general range of symptoms which could mean anything. Shaking, nervousness and hair loss are all hypOthyroid symptoms as well, and going to the bathroom a lot or sweating is probably for a whole host of possible other reasons, it’s not all about thyroid – diet, psychology, and lifestyle all have a part to play too.
It is absolutely impossible to have both hypo- and hyper- thyroidism at the same time, since they’re opposing disorders (i.e. one is too little and the other is too much) but it is very normal to have some symptoms which could be construed as meaning either, since the symptoms of both are very general.

Fluoridated Water is Dangerous

http://purewaterfreedom.com/osc/how%20to%20remove%20fluoride.php

A news report about the dangers of water fluoridation.

According to the US National Research Council, “several lines of information indicate an effect of fluoride exposure on thyroid function” – particularly among individuals with an iodine deficiency.

Fluoride’s potential to impair thyroid function is most clearly illustrated by the fact that — up until the 1970s — European doctors used fluoride as a thyroid-suppressing medication for patients with hyperthyroidism (over-active thyroid). Fluoride was utilized because it was found effective at reducing the activity of the thyroid gland – even at doses as low as 2 mg/day.

Today, many people living in fluoridated communities are ingesting doses of fluoride (1.6-6.6 mg/day) that fall within the range of doses (2 to 10 mg/day) once used by doctors to reduce thyroid activity in hyperthyroid patients. This is of particular concern considering the widespread problem of hypothyroidism (under-active thyroid) in the United States. Symptoms of hypothyroidism include obesity, lethargy, depression, and heart disease.

Does anyone have any experience with hyperthyroidism or Graves disease?

I am 21 years old, 5’5" tall, and about 105 pounds. I have problems gaining weight and keeping it on, I know these are a couple of the symptoms but I have no other symptoms, and I have had this problem with not being able to gain weight since birth. The reason I ask is because everything I have read says that you will notice most of these symptoms sort of suddenly and I would think if I had this problem all this time then someone would have tested me for it. Everyone has always told me it is just high metabolism. Please help.

Do you have a family history of the disease? When I was diagnosed with it last year, I was EXACTLY the same as you (5’5, 21, 105 lbs), and because of my family’s history with it, I knew it wasn’t a matter of IF I would get it, but WHEN. So, ask your parents if any of your relatives (mainly the females) have dealt with either hyper or hypo-thyroidism. Because it MAY very well just be a fast metabolism, but you want to be safe. If you develop an incredibly fast heart rate for more than a 24 hour period, immediately consult your doctor. This may mean something has triggered the disease to surface.

The benefits of radioactive iodine therapy for hyperthyroidism?

I was diagnosed with Graves disease 9 months ago and we tried medication for 8 months, but it did not really work, just slightly alleviated my symptoms. I got RAI 2 months ago and I honestly feel great. I can exercise and do not feel crappy anymore. Is it normal? I read I will most likely develop hypothyroidism. When will this show? Will I keep feeling better from now on?

You already experienced the benefit of such procedure pal. The main purpose of this treatment is the reduction/disappearance of symptoms of hyperthyroidism. yeah u will keep feeling better of course. For better explanation of this Please see the link below. Good Luck and stay happy thus making u feel a lot better. :)

Can Hyperthyroidism disrupt a woman’s menstural cycle?

I’ve just been unofficialy diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism. So far, all of the symptoms fit, but I haven’t had my period this past month (no I am not pregnant), and I can’t find anything that says that might be another symptom.

who diagnosed you with hyperthyroidism? there isn’t a diagnosis of it until your TSH comes back high and your T4 hormone comes back low.

can hyperthyroid disrupt a menstrual cycle? you bet it can.
